We started a Christmas tradition years ago, when our kids were tiny, of having my parents over for brunch the day after Christmas. The kids like showing them what they got for Christmas; and in a small way, we feel like we’re extending the holiday a little longer. In order to make the day even more fun, Rob and I created an entire Star Wars brunch with lots of food centered around familiar Star Wars character names. We had fun creating the food tags, which we are including for you to download and print. We also gave everyone a ticket to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi in their Christmas stocking for the same day as the brunch. It was nice to have the day after Christmas also be discount Tuesday at the local theater this year.
Food preparation was a breeze with each of the kids signing up for a food assignment. Spending time cooking together in the kitchen was a lot of fun. This occasion has become one of my favorite memories of the holiday! Surprised to find a themed brunch, my parents thought it was a fun and creative twist. There was an added dimension of ambience to the occasion with Star Wars music being air-played over the in-home speakers. It helped set the tone and get us more excited to see the movie.
I loved the Star Wars printable banner I found at busymomshelper. You can see it hanging from the island pendant lights in the picture below. I recommend checking out her site. She has a lot of other Star Wars printables you can download too.
