My Not So Perfect Life is a story of following your dreams and staying true to yourself.
Katie grew up on a rural dairy farm but is trying to create a successful life in London in the world of marketing. Consequently, she changed her name, accent, and appearance to better fit in, and what she posts on Instagram makes her life look glamorous and successful.
In reality though, she lives in a tiny apartment, does grunt work at her job, has no friends, and a horrible boss–as in ‘Devil Wears Prada’ evil boss. In addition, her commute is horrible, and she is always stressed about making ends meet. As a result, while living the dream, Katie is miserable.
When Katie suddenly gets fired, she finds herself back on the family farm, helping her father start a glamping business. She uses her marketing skills to create a website and activities that help the glamping business take off.
During this time, Katie’s former boss, Demeter, comes to stay at the farm with her children. So, Katie proceeds to make her stay ‘memorable’. After a few days, she begins to see a different side to Demeter, and realizes Demeter’s life isn’t as perfect as it appears, either.

This book is a good reminder that things aren’t always what they seem, and that no one’s life is as perfect as it looks on social media.
