Our family likes to put together this homemade holiday potpourri every year around Thanksgiving and Christmas. We love this blend of fruit and spices which fills our home with sweet aromatic frangrances and ushers in the holiday cheer!
Homemade Holiday Potpourri – What you will need
2 cinnamon sticks
1 handful of cranberries
8 – 10 cloves
Gather the ingredients and slice the orange, lemon, and lime into approximately ¼ inch slices.
Then add all ingredients to a large pot with 2 quarts of water.
Bring to a boil and then reduce to a low heat and let simmer with the pot uncovered. Remember to check it often, being careful not to allow the water to completely evaporate. If more simmer time is desired, just add more water.
Alternatively, you can place all ingredients in a slow cooker using the low setting.
When finished for the day, drain the water and add all ingredients to a Ziploc bag and refrigerate. This will keep the potpourri re-usable for approximately two weeks. We hope you will enjoy this homemade holiday potpourri and that it will brighten your holiday season.
